Ministries
Children's Ministries
Children: where children experience a "relationship building" faith journey.
Children will:
* develop a personal connection to God by exploring stories of the Bible
* form friendships with other children as they learn about God's never ending love for them
* learn what faith feels like through being nurtured by trusted, caring, faithful adults
For more information on children's ministries and education, contact the church office at 937-224-1731.
Student Ministries
South Park UMC offers a church-based ministry with students from the University of Dayton, Wright State University and Sinclair Community College.
A worship and fellowship evening is provided for students each Saturday evening from 6-8pm. The worship is informal and includes contemporary music. The Student Ministry of South Park is guided by our Campus Pastor and by a planning team of seven students.
Student Ministries at South Park is newly organized in 2008 and will expand its ministry opportunities. Student Ministries is non-denominational and invites all students to feel welcome. Entrance for the Saturday evening worship and fellowship is via the Stonemill Road entrance next to the parking lot at the back of the church.
Adult Ministries
Adults: where adults explore afresh the basic disciples on faith and the pathways of lifelong spiritual growth.
Adults will:
* develop a personal connection to God through the areas of prayer, scripture, and worship
* form friendships with other adults as a part of a God-centered community
* reflect on God's call in your life and discover anew the gifts that God gives you for living out your personal ministry
For more information on adult ministries and education, contact the church office at 937-224-1731.
Music Ministries
The music ministry at South Park includes the 20 voice Chancel Choir adult choir. The choir rehearses at the church Thursday evenings from 6-7pm from September through early June. We participate in Sunday services through anthems, choral responses and soloists. South Park's choral library contains in excess of 1,000 octavo, small ensemble and solo anthems bridging a full spectrum of musical styles from classical to contemporary praise and gospel. During the choir's summer recess, soloists provide special music for Sunday services. Membership in the choir is voluntary and open to all.
South Park also is the home of the 12 member Carillion Handbell Choir. This ensemble rehearses weekly at the church on Thursday's from 7-8pm from September through early June and participates periodically in Sunday services as well as in other community venues and, upon request, in wedding ceremonies at the church. Membership in the handbell choir is voluntary, though limited to those who read music reasonably well.
Children of the South Park congregation have the opportunity to periodicaly present a song during Sunday services. Practices are held accordingly as part of the regular Sunday school classes and are led by a Chancel Choir member who is a public school music educator.
Additional praise music soloists and ensembles are regularly invited to participate in South Park Sunday services throughout the year.
